For men and women who want to tighten their tummies, and sit ups and crunches aren't offering the results they want, Dr. Renaker-Jansen may be able to help with a tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty.
A tummy tuck helps make the abdomen muscles tighter to give your tummy a flatter, smoother look.
Our plastic surgeon can perform a complete abdominoplasty or mini abdominoplasty depending on your particular needs.
During a complete tummy tuck, your surgeon will make an incision that goes from hipbone to hipbone. She will then be able to reshape the skin, tissue, and abdominal muscles. With a complete abdominoplasty, your surgeon will also need to reposition your belly button.
If you have smaller pockets of fat below the belly button, she may be able to perform a mini abdominoplasty. Your surgeon will make a smaller incision and use an endoscope to reshape skin, tissue, and muscles. With this procedure, your belly button will not be moved.
In both procedures, your surgeon will use dissolvable sutures to close the incisions. In addition to gauze, you'll be given an elastic band that will help with healing.
A tummy tuck can take anywhere from three to four hours and is performed under general anesthesia. It takes up to six weeks to completely recover from abdominoplasty surgery.
